Once Again...

"'Cause here I am...at it again."--The Oracle.

Admittedly, I have been in self-imposed exile for several years. the reasons for this exile are numerous. For starters, I had been "involved" in the movement for the liberation of Afrikan people for close to twenty years. Up to that point, it was a majpr part of my life. I was at a point where i just needed a break, some time off. (Interestingly, although many of us may deem time off as a necessity, the movement and the forces that we battle never take a moment off. but I digress.) Further, I had become disenchanted with what ancestor Dr. Khallid Muhammad would refer to as "ni**er mess". The stagnating internecine wars that occur between groups supposedly fighting for the same goal is both saddening and sickening. These and other elements helped me conclude that it was time for me to take a few steps back and re-evaluate things.

During this period, I have been a witness to so much ignorance and to so much arrogance that it was no wonder that I have remained in exile this long. After observing unconcionable instances of racism and white supremacy, it is now time for me to get back in the ring. So called Afrikan American president notwithstanding, white supremacy is alive and well. As a matter of fact, some would argue that in direct correlation to there being an Afrikan American president, instances of blatant disregard for the lives of Afrikan people have grown, especially in the United States. To the point, a black president will not eliminate white supremacy and racism no more than a black billionaire feminist in her twenty-fifth year as America's talk show queen.

I am still a firm believer in the righteousness of our movement, of our struggle. We want freedom, justice, and equality. Nothing more, nothing less. From the very first day of our arriving on these shores, this is all we have wanted--freedom, justice, and equality. We wish to be free to determine our own destiny without any hesitation or intrference. We wish to fulfil our God-given destiny as a free and independent people. Indeed, this may be very challenging, especially amongst so many Afrikan people who are now of the illusion that all is well. After all, they surmise, would there be a black president if white supremacy and racism were as prevelant as they were four decades ago?

This is the mindset that we who are about the liberation of all Afrikan people struggle to correct. In an age of constant and easy access to manufactured information, entertainment, and recycled news reports, we are being spoon-fed a benign form of white supremacy on a daily and consistent basis. Our music has become yet another tool in the effort to mislead and misdirect as many of our children as possible.

I am a writer. I write. This is one of the many tools that I have been blessed with. And it is my intention to use that tool for the continued struggle for the liberation of all Afrikan people.

  1. Greetings,

I am a senior woman of Black African-ascent and do not have a keen ear for rap music. However, the few lyrics which I was able to comprehend, Black people have been advocating for eons. With the world's people of color being in the majority, please explain what is preventing us from overtaking the earth's white minority? After all, isn't this their GREATEST FEAR?

Some say that we are in the sad state that we're in because we have departed from our God. Therefore, it seems to me that all we need do is RETURN to our God, serve and worship God as our ancestors did originally - before the white man invaded our homeland Africa with his perverted Bible, and then later returned with his guns, chains and whips. Four hundred years later, as we find ourselves on this side of slavery's curtain, our minds are held captive by chains and the white man still has the gun trained on us. For our freedom/salvation's sake kindly describe what the original, God-acceptable TRUTH, that our ancestors practised, looks like, and how and where we can find it so that we can return to God who will dismantle this white man's insane asylum, and we will once again rule the world.

I'm sick and tired of the struggle!

    I eagerly await your answers.

    Amena
    BDA

  2. Peace and blessings sis.

The first thought that came to my mind, after reading your response, was that they reminded me of a mindset i used to hold. What we all must fully embrace and understand is that one way or another, our struggle is continual. The forces that we "do battle with" have no intention of ever letting up. And, so, we must respond or act in kind.

From the day that outsiders entered our ancestral homeland, war was waged on us in one way or another. And from that day to this one, it continues. In other words, white supremacy doesn't take a day off. Our minds are constantly bombarded with images that compel some of us to question our beauty, our purpose, and even our divinity.

Also, i don't accept the idea that we have departed from the "God" of our forefathers. If anything, we were ripped from the "God" of our forefathers and forced (under penalty of the lash or worse) to accept another people's idea of God. These other people didn't ask us if we wanted to voluntarily abandon our spiritual system in favor of theirs. Through careful manipulation and "breaking" processes, we adopted their relious beliefs (different from spiritual system) along with their "God".

It may be easy to suggest that we, as Afrikan people only need to abandon their Gods and adopt our own God(s). However, we must consider over 275 years of careful manipulation and brainwashing. That brainwashing didn't cease in 1865. In many situations, it only acelerated. Many Afrikan peopl aren't ready to be without another people's God or religious beliefs. Many of us are just fine with them. But it needs to be done. In order to be a whole and complete people, it is imperative that we embrace and love all that is us, flaws and all. It begins with self acceptance and self love. I have found that it is better for me to make sure i am at this point before i go out and "recruit" other brothers and sisters to this point. When the student is ready, the teacher will appear.

    Alafia.
